1896-1901. How Alfred Nobel’s dream became reality

An exhibition about the fabulous history how the Nobel prize was established. Alfred Nobel died 1896 and the first Nobel prize was awarded in 1901. The five years in between were dramatic. It could not at all be taken for granted that the Nobel prize would be realized. Thanks to the executors of the will, Ragnar Sohlman and Rudolf Lilljeqvist, together with Carl Lindhagen, Nobel’s will could be realized.

The exhibition deals with those five years, how close it was that the prizes would not have been established and the incredible important role Björkborn and the estate in Björkborn should play. If Alfred Nobel had not bought AB Bofors-Gullspång and lived at Björkborn in the summers between 1894 and 96, we cannot imagine what could have happened…
